OK, so, Brain of Britain has been back for a whole month now, four weeks ahead of UC's return, so here's a quick summary of the games so far before I start covering the show on Monday nights as usual.
Heat 1, back on August 1st, was won by OC semi-finalist and Mastermind finalist Emma Laslett (who also appeared on Channel 4's Moneybags this week just gone by), who led at the end of every round and finished on 15 points. Angela Hawke came second with 10, while Azeez Feshitan, a former BoB (and Fifteen-to-One) finalist, came third with 7; Ray Walters completed the line-up with just 2.
Heat 2 was won by Dan Afshar, who was in last year's Mastermind final and who I'm sure has been on BoB as well before; he also led comfortably throughout and won with 14 points, six clear of second placed Julie Aris. Shelley Nix and Linda Preece also competed, finishing with 6 and 5.
Heat 3 was narrowly won by Darren Martin with 12 points, one ahead of Jamie Hall, who started with a blank in the first round, but recovered well afterwards. Gill Austen and Rebecca Mathis completed the line-up with 8 and 6 respectively.
Heat 4 was a high scoring heavyweight line-up, won by Fifteen-to-One finalist Thomas Leeming with 16 points. Isabelle Heward, Mastermind winner and another former Fifteen-to-One finalist, started with an impressive 8 on the first round, but only scored four more points afterward, though 12 should be enough for a highest scoring runner-up spot. Kathryn Forrester and Julian Aldridge (winner of £250,000 on WWTBAM) completed the strong line-up with scores of 10 and 8.
And finally, this week just gone by, Heat 5 was a historic game, as three players, Lindsay Easton, Rob Moran and Ian Wilkinson, all finished tied on 8 points each, producing (probably) the first ever three way tie-breaker! Mr Wilkinson won that to take the place in the next round. Gail Treliving also competed, finishing wth 4.
So, that's the story so far; from now on, we'll be covering the show in my UC recaps as before. So, see you tomorrow with that then...
